The British Academy comments on key aspects of the UKRI Open Access Review consultation
UKRI’s Open Access Review consultation represents a crucial moment in the debate about future Open Access policy – particularly as it includes proposals for extending Open Access to monographs for the first time. The British Academy will submit a formal response to the consultation. But ahead of that, we issue this ‘Comment’ to highlight issues relating to Open Access journals and monographs that are of concern to humanities and social science academics. We also flag how important it is that the proposed policies in respect of outputs from Research Council-funded research should be different to subsequent policies in respect of research outputs submitted to future REFs.
