Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust wins Heritage Lottery Fund bid, with support from British Academy President

5 Apr 2013

The Hartlebury Castle Preservation Trust, with support from the President of the British Academy, has been successful in a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for over £400,000 to enable the Trust to develop a full application for purchase of the castle. A key aim of the bid is to maintain the Hurd Library, which is the only surviving intact example of an 18th century episcopal library in this country, in the room built for it and with the original shelves. It provides evidence of the taste and intellectual concerns of the period, both theological and literary. To read more about the Trust or to donate to the campaign please visit thewebsite.
