The British Academy and The Kenyon Institute

15 May 2013

The British Academy has issued the following statement in response to criticism of a lecture analysing the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel, which took place in March at the Kenyon Institute in Jerusalem.  "The British Academy supports a wide range of academic discussion and debates in the UK and abroad.  We provide a forum on a range of issues, drawing on academic research, without endorsing political positions.  The Academy does not support academic boycotts."  The Kenyon Institute supports British research and researchers working in Israel and Palestine and forms part of the Council for British Research in the Levant, which receives annual funding towards its work from the Academy.
