Salary: £24k per annum, plus excellent benefits

The British Academy – the UK’s national academy for the humanities and social sciences – is seeking an Assistant to the President and Executive.

The British Academy is seeking a highly motivated and efficient individual to work closely with the President and the PA to the Chief Executive, to help ensure the smooth running of the central office.

We are looking for a skilled communicator with exceptional organisational skills and the ability to multitask effectively. The post holder will provide support and assistance to the President of the British Academy and PA to the Chief Executive, and as directed to the Senior Management Team.

The successful candidate will have strong secretarial skills; accurate typing, an eye for layout and presentation, meticulous attention to detail and excellent drafting skills. The candidate will also have previous experience in providing accomplished administrative services and excellent interpersonal skills, appropriate for dealing with senior academics, stakeholders, public figures and colleagues.

Additionally, they will be comfortable with assessing what information needs to be passed on, and to what timescales, planning and prioritising tasks and taking initiative, with an ability to deal with sensitive matters appropriately.
